Rain Rain Go Away…

So, I know things have been pretty hectic for me the past few weeks. We really don’t have to go into the details of it, most of you who’ve been following along know what’s been going on. I’m starting to play catch up with everything, that means catch up on Twitter/Groups/Blogs, etc. Last week, a particularly Wise Goddess of Snark, Fern, wrote a blog about the Creation of Spells. Go check it out and then come back, or… wait, finish reading the blog, then go read hers.

Anyway, the topic of spells has come up quite a bit this week. I’m not all that big on spell work myself, it’s just not something that comes up in my day-to-day practice. But I’ve always thought that keeping it simple is the best way to go. Take for example that old nursery rhyme, “Rain Rain, Go Away, Come Again Another Day” Simple, straight to the point, I think this is a perfect example of spoken spell work.

But I guess what I really want to address, is what do you want to waste your time doing ‘spell work’ on? I mean, is there a mundane solution? Do you absolutely have to turn to spell work? Maybe someone smarter than me should tackle that issue. But, here’s the example of spell that I run across in groups.

Make bad luck go away Spell

Items:  Cauldron and a piece of paper.

Time:At night.

Ritual: Light a small fire in a cauldron or what ever you have available to contain the fire. Write on a piece of paper that is 3 inches x 3 inches, the words BAD LUCK. Then write down any bad things you do not like in your life right now. Then draw a big X across the paper with a black marker. While doing this you should be thinking of how all these things are going to disappear from your life, never to return!

Place the paper in the fire and repeat the following words 3 times:

“Fire, fire burning bright, turn my darkness into light!
Take away my bad luck ill, bring me nothing but goodwill.
Bad luck came and stayed to long, be gone forever, be gone, be gone!
With this fire burning bright, bring me good luck, bring me light!”

“SO MOTE IT BE!”

After repeating these words 3 times, sit for a few minutes and concentrate on the bad luck being gone and the good luck coming your way!

When you are done extinguish the fire.

Ok… I guess if you really want to do spell work, you can go ahead and do it… to get rid of bad luck… Although, here’s a thought.

Lala’s Spell to Banish Bad Luck:

Stop believing in bad luck, take personal responsibility for your actions and the consequences that come with them…

But, that’s just me. What are your thoughts?
